Zakat (Arabic: زكاة ‎ zakāh, "that which purifies", also Zakat al-mal [zaˈkaːt alˈmaːl] زكاة المال, "zakat on wealth", or Zakah) is a form of alms-giving treated in Islam as a religious obligation or tax, which, by Quranic ranking, is next after prayer in importance. By the mercy of Allah, and thanks to your generations donations, in 2018 ICNA Relief Canada was able to disburse $213,475 of Zakat al-Fitr in Bangladesh, Burma, Canada, India, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and Syria. This is almost double the $144,000 we raised in 2017!
